Sidney Sheldon - Archive Interview Part 1 of 5

In his 5-part oral history interview, writer/producer Sidney Sheldon (1917 - 2007) recalls his early years in Hollywood as a screenwriter for features, culminating in his Academy Award win for "The Bachelor and the Bobby Soxer." Mr. Sheldon discusses his creation of The Patty Duke Show. He recalls how, during his run as writer/producer of Patty Duke, he was approached by Screen Gems to produce another comedy -- I Dream of Jeannie. Later, he discusses creating Nancy, the short-lived 1970 sitcom, and Hart to Hart (pilot only), which he produced for Aaron Spelling. Mr. Sheldon next discusses his about-face from TV writer to novelist, and shares his delight regarding the sixteen best-selling books he has written, many of which have been turned into successful television movies.
